You’ve Decluttered: Now What? Clothing Part 2
Once you’ve cleared out your unwanted clothes, food, or belongings, it’s time to get them out of the house! Trash, donate, or even get some extra cash for your trouble. This month I’m giving local suggestions for what to do with those unwanted things:
Clothing and Accessories
Depending on how much time and energy you have and the condition of your clothing, you can divide your unwanted clothing into various categories: mend, donate, sell, or swap!
As the holidays approach, it’s a great time to donate to those less fortunate.
You may have seen yellow clothing donation dropboxes around town. One is at 18th St. and California St. NW. Visit the Planet Aid website to find one near you or to request a receipt for your tax deductible donation. Put clothing and shoes into a plastic bag before dropping them in the bin.
Martha’s Table at 2114 14th St. NW collects donations of gently used clothing and housewares. They are particularly looking for men’s clothing and shoes right now.
Georgia Avenue Thrift Store accepts donations too, at 6101 Georgia Ave. NW. Ask at the cashier’s desk if you need a receipt for tax purposes.
